Qualified Instructors

All practical lessons are conducted by TP-licensed driving instructors trained to the national curriculum standard.

Recognised by Traffic Police

How to Choose Your ADC

Not sure which driving centre to pick? Here are the key factors to consider before enrolling.

Location & Accessibility

Choose the ADC closest to your home or workplace. Consider MRT access and bus connectivity. Closer centres mean less time and money spent commuting to lessons.

CDC is most central; BBDC serves the west; SSDC serves the north.
Waiting Time

CDC, being the most popular, tends to have longer waiting times for lesson slots. SSDC typically has shorter wait times. Check each centre's current availability before enrolling.

If you want to start quickly, consider SSDC or BBDC first.
Class Availability

Check if your required class (e.g., Class 3A, Class 5, Truck) is offered at the centre. Only CDC offers Class 5 and heavy vehicle classes. Confirm before enrolling.

Truck/heavy vehicle aspirants must enrol at CDC.
Budget

Lesson rates are generally similar across all three ADCs. However, if travelling to the centre costs more (e.g., cab rides), the total cost can differ. Calculate the full cost including commuting.

Facilities & Features

If simulator training or e-learning platforms are important to you, check what each centre offers. CDC has 3D simulators; SSDC has an e-learning platform; BBDC has an eco-driving programme.

Ask Friends & Family

Word-of-mouth recommendations from people who have attended a particular ADC can be very helpful. Ask about specific instructors, class schedules, and overall experience.

Frequently Asked Questions – ADCs

Common questions about Singapore's Approved Driving Centres

No. You can only be enrolled at one Approved Driving Centre at a time. If you wish to transfer to another ADC, you must formally withdraw from your current one first. The transfer process involves administrative steps and may affect your lesson history.

For Class 3 (car) and Class 3A (auto car), you must be at least 18 years old to apply for a PDL and start practical lessons. For Class 2B (motorcycle), the minimum age is 16 years old. You can, however, sit the BTT from age 16 for planning ahead.

The typical timeline ranges from 6 months to over a year, depending on how quickly you can book lessons and tests. The process involves BTT, PDL application, practical lessons, FTT, and finally the TP test. Lesson slot availability at the ADC significantly affects the total duration.

Yes. Private driving instruction (PDI) from a TP-licensed private instructor is an alternative to ADC lessons. You still need to register at an ADC for theory tests, obtain a PDL through LTA, and sit the TP test at an ADC. Private instruction can sometimes be more flexible in scheduling.

Yes. The PDL is valid for 6 months from the date of issue and can be renewed. You must have a valid PDL to practise driving on public roads. If your PDL expires, you will need to renew it. Ensure your PDL is always current when practising or taking driving lessons.
