The BTT (Basic Theory Test) is taken first, before practical lessons begin. It covers basic traffic rules and road signs. The FTT (Final Theory Test) is taken after Stage 1 practical lessons and covers advanced driving concepts, hazard perception, and eco-driving principles. Both consist of 50 questions with a 90% pass mark.

The BTT test fee is approximately S$6.50 per attempt. Additional administrative fees may apply at your driving centre. Check with your ADC (CDC, BBDC, or SSDC) for the latest fees.

Yes! Since 2021, Singapore residents can sit the BTT at the Traffic Police's Driving Test Centre in Ubi without enrolling in a driving school first. This is useful for self-study candidates who want to test early.

After passing all tests and completing the required lessons, you receive a Provisional Driving Licence (PDL) valid for 1 year. After 1 year without accidents, it converts to a full driving licence, which is renewed every 10 years.

Yes! Foreigners holding Employment Passes, S-Passes, Dependant Passes, or Long-Term Visit Passes can apply for a Singapore driving licence. You must sit and pass the BTT and FTT. Some countries' licences may also be converted directly – check our Foreigners Guide for details.
